Why Life isn't Working (Yet!)
Pastor Darryn Scheske | Jesus and The Kingdom of God | Part 2 | Mark 4:26–34| May 11, 2025
What If You’ve Been Fighting Your Own Design?”There’s a reason you long for things to be right. That ache inside is not weakness—it’s divine design. If you’re tired of trying to make life work, here’s what Jesus really meant by “the Kingdom is within you.”
Gospel Reading
Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people...saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matthew 9:35; 4:17
Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. Luke 9:1–2
Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of Godwould come, He answered them and said, The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.”Luke 17:20–21
WHY LIFE ISN’T WORKING (YET)
Pray like this...“Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. –Jesus, Matthew 6:9–10
“...the coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.”–Jesus, Luke 17:21
The Kingdom of God is the natural operating system of your life.
“The Word, then, was with God at the beginning, and through Him all things came to be; no single thing was created without Him. All that came to be was alive with His life, and that life was the lightof humankind.” John 1:3–4
“He was in the world; but the world, though it owed its being to Him, did not recognize him.” John 1:10
And now in this final age, He has spoken to us through His Son, whom He hath made heir to the whole universe, and through Whom He created all orders of existence.” Hebrews 1:2
“Christ is the image of the invisible God...in Him all things in heaven and on earth werecreated, not only things visible, but invisible...the whole universe has been created through Him and for Him.” Colossians 1:15–16
So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27
“...predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son...” Romans 8:29
“the kingdom of God is within you.”–Jesus, Luke 17:21
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life...” John 14:6
The Kingdom is not a destinationIt’s the destined way to live
How to Enter the Kingdom
1. Be receptiveto Jesus
2. Get to know Himand pray HisPrayer
3. Soft heart at night
This is called “Abiding in Christ”
The Kingdom of God is not something you do
It’s something God does IN you
Heart Changes in the Kingdom
Honesty (Matthew 5:37)
Chastity (Matthew 5:27-28)
Unselfishness (Mark 10:45)
Love (John 13:34-45) **Jesus’s core commandment
“Go ALL-IN with Jesus and His Kingdom for a year of your life, and you won’t recognize yourself a year from now.” – Pastor Darryn Scheske
What would happen if you went ALL-IN for the total opposite?
Or even for the middle?
If you lived in a society of:
Deceit instead of Honesty
Outcome: Trust would collapse—contracts, promises, and even basic communication become unreliable. Government, business, and relationships would be driven by manipulation, misinformation, and betrayal. Paranoia and suspicion would permeate every level of society, as truth becomes unknowable.
Lust instead of Chastity
Outcome: People would be used for gratification rather than valued as whole persons. Families would fragment, intimacy would erode, and exploitation would rise. Vulnerable individuals, especially women and children, would suffer under systems that normalize objectification and abuse.
Selfishness instead of Unselfishness
Outcome: Community and cooperation would disintegrate. The strong exploit the weak, the rich get richer, and the poor are invisible. No one sacrifices for the greater good—every crisis becomes a scramble for personal gain.
Hatred instead of Love
Outcome: Division, revenge and violence become normalized. Reconciliation is impossible; every offense fuels a cycle of retaliation. People are dehumanized, categorized, and canceled instead of embraced and forgiven.
A society built on the opposites of the Kingdom of God would be one of deep isolation, systemic injustice, and emotional desolation. It would resemble a world where every person is a competitor, every relationship is transactional, and no one is safe. Compassion would be weakness, trust would be foolish, and power would be the only currency that matters.
This is why you’re exhausted!
It’s what you think is natural
but it’s not normal
You’re accustomed to it
But you’re allergic to it
