He's Got This | Why You Can Trust God Even When Life Feels Chaotic
Pastor Nick Scheske | Jesus and The Kingdom of God | Part 6 | June 8, 2025
Hebrews 12:28 says, "Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe."
· Say… “I trust God as a provider,”…but their just as stressed, hoarding, overworking, as everyone else.
· World of people claiming Christ… who would say… “I trust God is in control, he’s sovereign,” and yet, we keep doom-scrolling, keep refreshing, looking for headlines like He’s absent. Or anxious as if the certainty of Christianity depends on the headlines of the world… If your peace depends on headlines calming down, you will never have peace.
· World of people claiming Christ… who would say… “I trust God with my kids,” but live in a near-constant state of fear about safety, success, social dynamics. They say, “God’s got them,” but check Life360 ten times a day.
· Followers of Jesus who are taught to love their enemies, but are just as outraged, combative, and reactive as the rest of the culture. Quick to cancel and slow to forgive. We fear being misunderstood more than we fear misrepresenting Christ. All the while missing what God’s kingdom is trying to do right now!
“If all someone knew of the Kingdom of God was watching your life, “What does your life say about the Kingdom of God?” What would they believe about it?” About its strength? Its stability? What would they see when things got shaky…
“What does your life say about the Kingdom of God?”
Mark 4:38 - And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
Have you ever prayed that? This message is for anyone who has ever wondered, “God, don’t you care? Do you even see me right now?” I am just in the middle of the storm right now and you clearly don’t care.
Mark 4:39-40 - Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
Mark 4:41 - And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”
So the question is: If His presence is what stills the storm… What do I do when it feels shaky? What does it look like to walk in the strength of an unshakable Kingdom?
1. Remember What He’s Already Done
Joshua 4:6-7 — “Each of you is to take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, to serve as a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’… These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever.”
Do you remember when He pulled you out of the addiction you thought you’d never break?
Set. Up. Some. Stones. Because your soul forgets what your story remembers. And sometimes, the faith you need for this storm is hiding in the memory of the last one He brought you through.
2. Re-frame your Current Perspective
3. Get God’s Word in Your Soul
Colossians 3:16 says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…”Not just visit occasionally. Dwell. Take up residence. Be at home. Why? The word of God is powerful! Effective! True to your soul today… and you need to get God’s word, promises of God, in your heart for the storm that’s coming… Not just head knowledge, Sword of the Spirit… power to demolish strongholds, and false reasoning… when the storm hits… You won’t rise to the level of your inspiration — you’ll fall to the level of your preparation. You’ve got to be ready to preach to your own soul. Pray the word of God every day… PD said this past Wednesday at 300. Some high school students believe that when you pray, you need to pray the word of God, don’t just pray your problems… You pray about your problems; you will depress yourself… You need the live and active word of God, and when you pray it, you’re speaking power over your situation. You remind yourself what’s true when your emotions try to lie. You don’t just listen to your anxiety — you talk back to it. You say, “I know what I see/feel, but here’s what I know.” You let the Word do the talking. – In the Notes… Go get that prayer first book…
