A New Sound
(Acts 16:25 NIV) "About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were (continually) listening to them."
My Japan Survey: What do people need?
*Community - A new sound from a great group
*"A Touch of God" - 2 things
Journalling - A new sound of God's Voice
Great praise music - A new sound to sing along with
1.The Samaritans needed a New Sound
(Jn 4:4) "Now he had to go through Samaria".
(Jn 4:7) When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her,“Will you give me a drink?"
(Jn 4:10) Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”
(Jn 4:13-14) Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
(Jn 4:26) Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.”
2.The Samaritans didn't need that old sound
(Lk 9:52-56 NKJV) "And he sent messengers on ahead, who went into a Samaritan village to get things ready for him; 53 but the people there did not welcome him, because he was heading for Jerusalem. 54 When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, “Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them (just as Elijah did?)” 55 But He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of.
56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.
3.Samaritans discovers a new sound
(Acts 8:4-8) "Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went. 5 Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Messiah there. 6 When the crowds heard Philip and saw the signs he performed, they all paid close attention to what he said. 7 For with shrieks, impure spirits came out of many, and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed. 8 So there was great joy in that city."
4.John rejoices in the new sound!
(Acts 8:14-17 NIV) "When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to Samaria. 15 When they arrived, they prayed for the new believers there that they might receive the Holy Spirit, 16 because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit."
Finally: This is Our Sound!
(Phil 4:4) "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!"
